One-Child Policy and Marriage Market in China

This study analyzes the effect of one-child policy on marriage market in China, and focuses leftover situation, age, age differential between husband wife. Taking 30 as a cut-off point, has increased proportion about 1.2%, with 1.8% men 0.6% women. Although problem urban women made eye-catching general public, is much more serious than that women: former arising from true over-supply while latter due to matching process. The positive significant, no matter for urban, rural residents, or migrants, but smaller area, which consistent fact sex ratio balanced area. also increases wife whole; however, it significant male-head families negative female-headed families.
